Why are Automakers Using Boron and UHSS?

The automakers are trying to get the 5-star crash rating from the government. New standards for side impact and roof crush are also causing them to step up the use. The two new standards from the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) are:

• No. 214 Side Impact Protection
• No. 216 Roof Crush Resistance
