Here’s a great video from Brock Archer out on the West Coast walking us through the Total Sidewall Removal. This evolution has a bunch of different names floating around the fire service. For example, B-Pillar Blowout, Two Door Swing, Maxi Door, Rip and Blitz, 5th Door Conversion, Batwing, etc. The important thing to understand is the techniques and outcome are very similar.
As with an extrication technique, protecting the patient with soft and hard protection is important. Also consider the weight of the doors that are removed. Remember that stabilization is an ongoing task during vehicle extrication.
