High-Energy, High-Impact TrainingTim Sendlbach provides an overview of the skills and personal characteristics necessary to develop and deliver a HIGH-IMPACT training program for your department.  Training is considered the backbone of every progressive fire department.

EMS Aspects of Extrication: Fundamentals and Focus – Rommie Duckworth connects core principles of extrication with a foundation of field trauma care. Presented in a way that everyone can understand this program delivers patient size-up, incorporation of medical considerations in the extrication approach, detection and management of life threats, basic and advanced assessment, and concerns for special patient populations.

Alternative Fuel Heavy Truck/Bus for First Responders – Matt Stroud discusses the knowledge necessary to properly mitigate incidents involving commercial vehicles that utilize modern hybrid and alternative fuels including: LNG, CNG, Hybrid, EV, Hydrogen fuel cells.

Res-Q-Jacks Stabilization University – Cris Pasto presents training on all aspects of res-q-jacks, the most complete line of versatile rescue struts & jacks available today in a variety of stabilization and lifting scenarios.

Down in the Ditch – Les Baker covers the topic of vehicles that come to rest in different positions in ditches of different sizes and configurations.

Large Truck Tactics – Tim Rouse familiarizes the rescuers with different types, unique characteristics, and extrication techniques for dealing with large truck incidents. Students will be challenged with scenario based evolutions culminating in a mega scenario involving multiple entrapments designed to challenge even the most veteran responders.

Hand to Hand Combat – Jeff Pugh provides comprehensive training on the skills necessary to complete various tactics with minimal hand tools. Emphasis will be placed on tools such as hi-lift jacks, reciprocating saws, air chisels, etc.

Advanced Tactics – Randy Schmitz covers advanced tactics that are not used on a routine basis, but when needed are invaluable. These tactics include floor pushes, inverted patient removal, tunneling, etc. Emphasis will be placed on scenario based training.

Man-in-a-Machine – Ed Henry discusses machine rescue calls such as a jumper impaled on a fence, a construction worker impaled on rebar, a pizza boy’s arm caught in the dough mixer, or the restaurant worker with his hand in the meat grinder.

PXT 201

  • Technician Level, Duration: 8 Hours
  • Note: Pre-requisite for Technical Heavy Extrication

Our most popular course, this 8 hour training session emphasizes an all hands-on training course with minimal time spent in the class room.  After a brief introduction, students rotate through 4 practical work stations performing all necessary tasks on vehicles that are positioned on their wheels, sides, and roofs.  Students are introduced and led through modern extrication practices using the latest technology in hydraulic and non-hydraulic rescue tools. As with all of our courses the instructor to student ratio never exceeds a 1/10 ratio (except our PXT 401).

PXT 401

  • Technician Level, Duration: 5 Hours

Due to the ever-changing technologies in the automotive field, Hybrids and alternative fuel vehicles have become common place on our roads.  These pose new risks and require new approach procedures for Firefighters and first responders.  To respond to this need, PXT, in cooperation with the MGSTECH Corporation, offer PXT401.  MGSTECH has designed a Hybrid response guide (HRG) and an in-depth training course to provide Firefighters and first responders with the up-to-date information they need to safely work with all types of vehicle incidents.

The up-to-date training course provided by PXT and MGS TECH offers an on-site Hybrid/New Technology course geared toward either first responders or body shop technicians. Each class includes discussions about Hybrid parts locations, high voltage hazards, power down procedures, fire and submersion tactics and will dispel myths and misinformation about these vehicles. Our course also goes into depth on Airbag (SRS) systems and alternative fuel vehicles. In addition to the classroom portion, attendees have the opportunity to put their newly learned knowledge to use by performing power down procedures and practicing other tactics on a live Hybrid vehicle. This course is a must for keeping first responders abreast of changes involving response procedures for Hybrids and Alternative Fuel vehicles.
